Dhamma Dena is a Vipassana Buddhist center founded by the pioneer Buddhist teacher Ruth Denison. Ruth lived and practiced for almost forty years on this land, teaching her unique blend of vipassana meditation and mindful movement until her death in 2015. The center is run as a non-profit and hosts retreats and silent meditation group sits in the Dharma Hall. (I’ve heard about Dhamma Dena for many years, and recently realized that it’s directly adjacent to the Copper Mountain Community Center – so much richness in North Joshua Tree!) The next retreat will be from December 23rd to January 1st – you can sign up for the entire retreat which includes meals and lodging, or drop in for part of it.
